Yessy Downs
Yessy (she/her) is a Miami-raised, Chicago-based, hoop-wearing, pen-slinging, cafecito-drinking, Copywriter, and the mastermind behind the Oxford Comma Collective. She is a bilingual, first-generation Nicaraguan-American with degrees in English, Communications and Advertising from the University of Florida and Miami Ad School.
Yessy’s love for writing and her relentless ambition have helped her break barriers in her personal and professional life. After trading law school for portfolio school, Yessy began racking up an impressive client roster that includes Dunkin’, Burger King, MichelobULTRA, Samsung and Heinz. She has been awarded for her work in the advertising industry and was named one of ADCOLOR’s 2020 Futures.
A master communicator, Yessy has a diverse writing skillset, including copywriting, scriptwriting and speechwriting, and uses her talents to uplift marginalized voices through Oxford Comma Co. and other initiatives. When she is not writing, Yessy is petting dogs, dancing to Bad Bunny, rapping to Hamilton, jamming to the Beatles, watering her plants or re-watching The Office.
